Established in
1979,
we see our mission as working both with and for our clients in order to maximise the impact
of
their written communications. We are proud of our track record and associations with
experts and thinkers in many areas including law, medicine, dentistry, government,
architecture, engineering, science, mathematics, business, education, psychology and
psychiatry, to name but a few. Visit our showcase to find out more specific details about
some
of our work.
We transcribe most types and sizes of audio tapes, including
Philips, Grundig, Mini and Micro cassettes (e.g. Sony, Sanyo, Dictaphone) and compact
cassettes (e.g. C60). We are looking into the transcription of digital dictation files and may be
able to offer this service soon.
We also work from hand-written copy, re-edit
material
already on PC disks or sent by e-mail, in a variety of formats, and scan typed copy and
graphics. Legible copy can be sent by fax or scanned and sent as an e-mail attachment.
We can post or fax the finished typescript or return it by e-mail.
We offer a high
degree of proficiency in English (MA degree in English Literature and over 20 years'
experience of work within the UK in specialist areas in a wide variety of fields). Other
languages include Dutch (one partner's native language), and at least some
French, German, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Yiddish and Aramaic.
We
have typed in all of these languages and translated or overseen translations into English.
Our copy improvement service involves modifying the client's English text or
translation so that it "ceases to speak with a foreign accent" or, in other words,
making it more natural, more idiomatic and in many cases more articulate. We do
ghost-writing, help foreign students with academic work in English, assist dyslexic
individuals,
and help with spelling, grammar, style and overall "feel" and logical flow of
text.
