A very small sample of some of the work we are proud to be associated with

Relative Deprivation and Working Women    Faye Crosby was Associate Professor of Psychology at Yale University when we word processed this book for publication in 1982. The study reports on more than 400 working women, men and housewives and examines whether resentments and dissatisfactions are absolute or occur relative to some perceived psychological standard. The author concludes that perceived grievances depend directly on the individual's feelings of entitlement, not necessarily on objective deprivation. This goes some way towards explaining why many women who are seriously deprived by objective standards fail to complain or even perceive that they are deprived, if they believe that they have achieved all they are entitled to.

A Child In Trust - L. Blom-Cooper QC - Published by London Borough of Brent 1985  This ground-breaking child abuse enquiry report, word processed by Textpertise and printed from diskettes supplied by us, has had wide-ranging social implications. The concept of child protection, highlighted in this report, has become a first principle in British society, enshrined in the Children Act and all subsequent legislation affecting children and young people. There was enormous media interest in the report. That it was leaked to the press (not by us!) the very day we released the diskettes to the printers gives some indication of our discretion and how we safeguard confidentiality!

Stress in Intensive Care Nursing by Kim Manley  Carried out for the Royal College of Nursing and funded by the Kings Trust, this was a large series of taped interviews with intensive care nurses at all levels. Issues explored what factors caused them stress in their jobs and what coping mechanisms they were using. The interviews attempted to tease out what was effective and what less so in keeping stress at reasonable levels and preventing burn-out amongst highly qualified and very much needed specialist nursing staff.  Qualitative analysis of the tapes was to follow our input and inform policy decisions and official recommendations.

Lower Genital Tract Precancer. This book, by three leading gynaecological oncologists is a definitive resource for pathologists and senior nursing staff as well. It discusses investigation methods and colposcopic examination and describes the normal and abnormal cervix. Drawings and slides illustrate varieties of lesions and aid in distinguishing conditions with similar appearances. It is of particular value in remoter locations where clinicians may not have direct first hand experience of the full range of lesions and their appearances.  We word processed the contribution of Professor Singer, as well as some portions contributed by the other authors.  Although most work was for the May 1994 edition, we also worked on the revised edition of October/November 1999.
